Lajos Szabo is the Founder/President of the West Australian Sombo Wrestling Academy and is the first in Australia. He has 45-years of combined experience in Wrestling,judo, Sombo,Boxing,Kick-boxing and other Martial Arts.
He has trained many international level athletes in Australia,some of them became Australian National Champion and few of them represented Australia in World Championships and one of them was a member of the Sydney Olympic Team. He has a military background where he learned Combat Sombo. He also took part in the management of the Sydney Olympics.  He has numerous awards from FILA, for the invaluable contribution to the success of the 1998 FILA Five Continents Wrestling Cup and 1999 FILA World Wrestling Championships for Juniors held in Sydney to build towards the 2000 Olympics.  He has established many Wrestling Clubs in the Eastern States,mainly in Sydney N.S.W.

He has moved to Perth in 2001 where he has established many Wrestling Clubs at Police Citizen Centres. He has trained many Martial Art Instructors to Free-Style Wrestling, helped to lodge a career for some of the best fighters who are earning big money in K-1 and MMA-Fighting in Japan. In WA many of his students Male/Female have become Western Australian State Champions. His best students in WA are Agnes Szabo and Emma Chalmers who became Australian National Wrestling Champions, Emma also became a Western Australian Submission State Champion. Some of his students also placed well in Judo competitions. Lajos' aim is to promote and develop Sombo Wrestling in Australia. Sombo Wrestling is the fastest growing sport in Europe and America and is a recognized sport by FILA.
